Jim Aikenhead is a program instructor working at the Mountsberg and Crawford Lake Conservation Areas with Conservation Halton. While studying in the Faculty of Environmental Studies at the University of Waterloo he spent time volunteering at the Wrigley’s Corners Outdoor Education Centre. It was here he realized that teaching people about the outdoors in the outdoors was his passion. Various stops at the Royal Botanical Gardens, the Grand River Conservation Authority and Conservation Halton led to the Mountsberg CA where he has spent the past 39+ years creating and delivering outdoor experiences for all ages. Jim has been involved in major display installations, the design and implementation of curriculum based programs for school groups, and year round nature encounters for the general public. His knowledge and experience serves as a resource for new interpretive staff as they begin their ‘outdoor’ careers.
