We invite writers, videographers, and artists to submit pitches for work to be considered for publication in The Grindstone magazine on thegrindstone.ca. We accept pitches only through email.
What to Submit
We publish original, compelling, written narrative pieces between 800 to 1500 words, but we are open to longer form work if the subject requires the space. We also accept artwork, video, and photography to be featured in our Culture section. In terms of scope, we are open to local, provincial, and national topics.
How to Submit
The pitch should be written in the body of your email. A successful pitch will provide a description of your subject, evidence of original research, and thesis.
Photos and art submissions should be included as attachments.
Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will respond by email once we have reviewed your pitch. Do not call.
Before sending a pitch, please make sure you are familiar with The Grindstone and our mission. We’re interested in stories based in the natural sciences, the outdoors, and, in general, environmentally focused pieces.
Each of our issues has a theme, and we may publish your piece in a later issue if we designate it a better fit for a particular theme.
